Our Story

Children participating in a literacy program at a Durban school.

Africa’s Anchor of Hope began with a simple yet powerful vision: to ensure that every child has access to books, education, and a brighter future. What started as a small reading Programme in 2006 has grown into a full-scale initiative that transforms schools, supports literacy, and uplifts communities.

About Us

Our work is driven by dedicated educators, volunteers, and partners who believe that education is the key to breaking the cycle of poverty. Through libraries, reading Programme, and feeding schemes, we provide the tools and support needed for children to thrive.

Volunteers

Our Programmes are powered by a dedicated team of volunteers, many of whom come from disadvantaged communities themselves. Some volunteers are young graduates, corporate professionals, academics, teachers, moms, or grannies—all united by their passion for literacy and child development.

Every book read, every child supported, and every meal shared brings us closer to our vision. Whether you volunteer, donate, or spread the word, you can be part of a movement that empowers children through education.
